Doncaster - Herten German Society, (Doncaster-Herten Deutsche Gesellschaft), was founded in September 2014 as an amalgamation of the Doncaster German Society and the Herten Friendship Club. The Society aims to provide a platform for German speakers, both native and those with an interest in the German language, to meet in a non-academic environment. We also try to provide an opportunity to gain insight into the culture and history of the German speaking nations. Meetings are conducted in English and German to suit the language abilities of all present.
· We hold regular meetings with topics ranging from the merits of some German wines to comparisons between the English and German Health Systems. The topics are presented in English and German. We also have a German style Christmas party and stage various other activities.
· Many of the talks have been presented by speakers provided under the auspices of the German Embassy in London. Other topics were presented by our own Society members.
· The Society is willing to assist any other related groups by way of talks on particular topics.
· Meetings are held at The Ukrainian Centre, 48 Beckett Road, Doncaster from 7.15 pm to 9.15 pm every second Friday of the month, September to June inclusive.
